However, due to timing and planning, that didn't happen. But since we had received some amazing silent auction donations, we had to do something.
Because of our team consists of members throughout the states of Minnesota and North Dakota, we decided to do something different. We decided to do an online silent auction. The benefits of doing an auction online are endless:
- No travel
- Can be viewed and bid on by anyone in the world
- Items can be secured through many different people and companies
- We can use the benefits of social media (Facebook, blogs, etc) to promote our auction
- Can be done from home--no babysitter or work commitments to worry about.
- Those that donate to our cause get free advertising & links taking viewers to their site.
We decided to do our auction through a blog site. The reason was simple: money. We did not want to pay fees and services for sites like eBay or cMarket. The blog set up worked for us and we couldn't be happier with the outcome.
To date, the Amy's Angels Online Auction has raised over $5000 for breast cancer education, research and awareness.
